AdHuntr #1 - Social media ads focusing on athleisure

Five ads that caught our fancy

Welcome to the first ever edition of Ad Huntr. It's a weekly newsletter where we showcase the best social media ads coming out of India.

Why did we start this? Because we were looking for inspiration and could only find examples from the Western hemisphere. That frustrated us and as people say build a product to solve your problems. Hence, Ad Huntr was born.

Each week we will focus on a different theme, keyword or product category. This allows us to discover the best creatives across a wide range of brands as well as formats.

For the first edition of AdHuntr, we decided to focus on five athleisure brands.

Our Take: Highlighting specific customer requests drew us in. The new colors are unique and showcases all body types.At a snappy 8 seconds it's an ad that gets to the point quickly. Some peppy music however would have made this more thumb stopping.

Ad Copy: Activewear that matches your style and still provides all the comfort and functionality you need. Our Take: The bright purple combined with the Friend's logo made us pause. The eye catching print ensured we spend more time and eventually clicked on the ad. They could have highlighted the features of the product in the image a bit better though with call outs.

Our Take: Using realistic models appealed to us and the images calling out the features was even better. In a few swipes we were able to figure out whether this was the product for us. The copy with the highlighted benefits helped as well.

Our Take: An ad that uses super simple ad copy to get you interested and a video that doesn't distract but demonstrates. It's simple and effective. Some text to pause and call out features would have been nice but in this user generated content style ad the lack of it doesn't bother us much.

Our Take: This ad hits the sweet spot. It has product images that point out the benefits of each style on offer with user commentary about it. Plus the discounted and original prices are shown clearly.The only tweak we would have made is a slightly jazzed up cover image with a bolder color to make it stand out and catch one's eye.
