AdHuntr #3 - This weeks it's all about facemasks

Covering up to stay safe

Welcome to the third edition of AdHuntr!

This week's ads are based on the theme of facemasks.

Not the pop a bottle of bubbly and chill on the couch kind though. We are talking about the stay safe from COVID kind.

As a new industry that's risen to help the world minimize the spread of the disease it was an interesting one to examine.

Our Take: The typo in the ad copy isn't a mistake on our side. It's something that the brand has slipped up on. However we still like the ad for highlighting unique features in the description and a video format that seemed to place the products literally on a pedestal. By co-opting Sezzle's brand within their creative they also add credibility to the mix. We really wish they had used proper capitalization in their description though. It's just a pet peeve of ours.

Our Take: Social proof is one of the best ways to convince customers that your product is worth buying. This ad plays that angle extremely well by putting a real customer review in their description as well as their creative. They went a step further by backing it up with the features of the product in an understandable list. Overall the ad has perhaps a bit too much information going on but without access to their stats we can't pass judgement on whether this worked well for them or not.

Our Take: One of India's most iconic luggage brands, Wildcraft has been around since forever. Their catchy ad starts off with an unusual song where someone almost whispers something at the start. We couldn't quite catch the word but it was enough to get us to pause scrolling. Once they got us to do that with the clear display of the different options as well as the technical features of the product this ad delivered value in spades. We would have liked if their shop now button took the consumer to a landing page optimized to show off the W95 mask and push purchases instead of a generic ecommerce search page. It might have led to better conversions for them.

Our Take: Unique ads come in various forms. Raystichs achieves that with a super low budget, shot on a phone look that had us instantly curious. Having a catchy song and someone jamming out while wearing the product made it seem like using it would be fun. And a facemask that doesn't feel loose or boring when you wear it? That's something we all want.The one thing we would definitely have worked on would have been the ad copy. Currently it seems too generic as if they were trying to showcase the brand and not the product.

Our Take: As an ad that's had over 1 million impressions this one has to be converting well for the brand. By starting off with a shot of consumers actually wearing the mask and then 4 images of different styles with a benefit on each image this ad packs a good amount of value. The ad copy is short and crisp ensuring that consumers are able to digest it easily.
